Preparation Time Preparation Time: Cook Time Cook Time: Serves Serves: 4 Cut:

1 1/2 lbs ground chicken
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 egg, beaten
2 tbsp ketchup
2 tbsps dried parsley (1/3 cup minced fresh)
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
4 whole grain buns

Topping ideas:
Cheese, lettuce, tomato, relish, pickles, mayonnaise, coleslaw, grilled vegetables

Combine all ingredients thoroughly.  Shape into 6 patties.  With the back of a teaspoon, make a dent in the center of each burger.  This helps the center of the burgers cook faster.

Preheat barbecue on medium heat.  Grill burgers with the barbecue lid down, until a meat thermometer inserted into the burgers reads 175F (about 9 minutes per side).  Serve on whole wheat buns topped with your favourite burger toppings.   Coleslaw made with red and green cabbage goes very well with these burgers.

Tip:  Double this recipe and freeze the extra raw burgers in a single layer between sheets of wax paper.  Once frozen, wrap the burgers in wax paper then tightly in foil.  Freeze for up to 6 months.
