3 cups all purpose flour
2 tbsps baking powder
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter or hard margarine
3/4 - 1 cups water


Preheat oven to 425F.

Mix together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.

Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Gradually mix in small amounts of water (a 1/4 cup at a time) just until you have a soft but not sticky dough.  You may not need all of the water.

Shape into a ball then flatten into a circle about 1 inch thick.  Place on a greased baking sheet and bake for about 25 minutes or until lightly browned.  Cut into wedges and serve with your favourite chicken soup or stew.
